The International Journal of Applied Public Policy (IJAPP) is a specialized practitioner-oriented journal focused on bridging the gap between public policy research and actionable governance solutions. Its objective is to promote practical, innovative and contextually relevant policy insights that can be applied across diverse governance and policy systems. The journal addresses public policy issues facing nation states and national or supranational organizations (including governments) and how these entities solve contemporary public policy problems.

The IJAPP is distinct in that it emphasizes:

  • Applied and actionable policy analysis rather than purely theoretical work.
  • Interdisciplinary approaches integrating perspectives from public administration, economics, political science and social innovation.
  • Localization of policy - how global policy frameworks are adapted to regional, national or municipal contexts.
  • Innovation in policy making and governance, focusing on new public management models, digital transformation and inclusive development.

Submitted articles can offer empirical analysis and can also advance new policy practices or other innovations. To be considered for publication, articles should fit with the aims and scope of the journal. This means that they should address the relationships between policy and contemporary governance or societal issues. Submitted articles should provide a compelling objective and specify how they advance the state of the knowledge beyond the current state of the art.
